Superman: Secret Origin #2
I guess your enjoyment of this issue depends on if you think that Superboy's past in the future with the Legion is an essential part of his origin. It's a valid argument, and Geoff Johns seems to think that it is. With that being said, there is nothing this issue has to offer that hasn't been in the "Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes" storyarc by the same creative team, published last year. Of course, not everyone has read that. Which is another valid point. But like with #1, I agree that the quality of this book is top-notch. I just don't see the point.

Amazing Spider-Man #610
Not the best storyline since Brand New Day. Let's leave it at that. I liked the use of Screwball, though. She's a cool character.

Captain America: Reborn #4 of 5 (but actually 6)
Nice character moments, nice art. But I wonder why they had to stretch this series out to six issues, since we don't get a lot of plot this month. However, it looks like Brubaker's storyline that began in his Captain America #1 (volume whatever, I have no idea) is coming to a close. I wonder what will happen after this and "Who Will Wear The Shield", or whatever that's going to be called.

My list this week included Doctor Voodoo #2, Stumptown #1, Haunt #2, Batman: TWG #3, Cap Reborn #4, and Buffy #30.

Loving Doctor Voodoo. I was introduced to most of these characters via New Avengers, so it’s great to get a story fully set in the mystical realm without any superhero elements, per se. And apparently the events seeded here play largely into the next major threat to the Marvel U (what Doom saw?) so I’m totally in on this book.

Stumptown was great. It’s your basic P.I. intro, but I really loved it. Of course, I live in Portland, so that was a big part of its charm, but I almost immediately loved every character we met. This was also my first intro to Greg Rucka and Matthew Southworth, and now feel I need to check out some other titles from either or both of them.

Haunt: strange to go from the spiritual co-habitation of Jericho and Daniel Drumm to that of Kurt and Daniel Kilgore in the same day. That, coupled with Spawn/Spider-man-ish action, takes me out of it slightly. Only slightly. The art and story are absolutely fantastic, and I’m more than a little intrigued to see where things go.

Today was my first day back in a comic shop in quite a while. Picked up issue 2 and 3 of Luke Cage Noir. X-Factor #50 (!!!!!!), Ex Machina #46. Secret Warriors #9 and Scalped #32. I missed Doctor Voodoo and keep forgetting to put it on my pull list. The first issue was great and I plan to stick with that series. I love comics!

DMZ #47, "Hearts and Minds" #3, brings familiar faces into unexpected places, but to say more would spoil a lot.

Supergod #1 starts another Warren Ellis series, this time about various nations' attempts to produce gods and then things getting weird...

Air #15, "Air Heart," is the secret origin issue for Amelia Earhart whose disappearance was solved earlier in the series. Instead of being a straightforward series of flashbacks, this one alternates Earhart's present-day facing Blythe's problems with flashbacks to when she was Blythe's age. Good stuff.

Anybody reading North 40? Very cool story. I'm not familiar with anything Fiona Staples did before this, but her artwork is KILLER in this series!

Northlanders #22, "The Plague Widow" #2, "Heads of Household," has Hilda and Karin begin to face a 7-month winter with Hilda's husband dead and the cache they'd saved looted. The complexity of the village politics, and how if affects the, also gets revealed a bit more. There's 6 more issues of this story arc coming up, and what'll be in them isn't predictable.

Caught up with a fair amount of stuff this weekend!
Invincible Iron Man #20 – Not where I’d hoped this would go, but it was fun to get some interesting subconscious imagery. Kinda felt like an old ST:TNG episode for some reason.
Fantastic Four #573 – Self-contained and totally engrossing. Great issue. Points for shockingly graphic violence outta nowhere.
Chew #6 – New dynamic. Surprising twists. I love this book more and more with each issue.
Thor Giant-size Finale – Good to get the end of Bill’s story, but why couldn’t this have been part of the normal issues? They just packed in a re-print and some other stuff in the back. This felt like the catalyst for the true finale – which JMS isn’t even writing? Hmm…
The List: Spider-man – Sooooo disappointing. They also reprinted a Goblin-centric issue of The Pulse in here. WTF.
Dark Avengers #12 - I’m liking this ultimate team of villains in Colorado, and the fact that Victoria Hand is fending for herself…but still no pick-up on the beeping in Osborn’s room from the last issue?
New Avengers #59 – Immonen is making the New Avengers look better than ever. Also, you don't @#$! with Luke Cage.
Powers #1 – Interesting new look at Walker’s past…apparently he was a dick in rat-pack Vegas?
Secret Warriors #11 - Not sure I get it, but whatever. It’s cool to get a mythological story with a sprinkling of Fury.

Agree

Read issues 3-5 of Immortal Weapons and they were pretty good, kinda varied in quality, but still awesome, kung-fu, pulp fun. But most of all I like how they look all lined up
